Fiji's Labour Minister didn't do her part: FTA

Fijian Teachers Association President Tevita Koroi says that it was useless to carry on with strike action because the "Minister for Labor did not do her part".
Koroi says their only hope was to go for arbitration.
He adds this did not happen since the Minister in charge no longer had the powers to call for Arbitration and which legally was not right.
The Unions according to Koroi will fight for the payment of the 5% pay cut and the Partnership agreement in court after winning battle on the Compulsory retirement age.
Meanwhile, Viti National Union of Taukei Workers general secretary Taniela Tabu shared similar views saying the Labour Minister did not play her part when she had the powers to do so in solving the situation.
Tabu has confirmed that they will be returning to work tomorrow.
Tabu said that it was a tough decision to make but the Union had to as the overnment was breaking the laws in the dispute.
He adds the government could have resolved their grievances, however, this was refused saying the govenrment did not bother to take the case to Arbitration.
Tabu said that the Union had to think of their member’s welfare and it was only right to call off the strike action and return to work for the benefit of their families.
However, he says that negotiations on their grievances will continue.
